Speaking
I simply couldn't write about myself for this page... so I asked someone else to do it.
"Bruce Fordyce has done more for the promotion of running in South Africa than any other single individual in South African history. In addition to his iconic and unmatched athletic performances and experiences, he is an exceptional public speaker – one of the very best.
I have been listening to Bruce for more than 35 years. He is as fresh and even more enthusiastic than he was in 1981, when he won the Comrades Marathon for the first time. Meeting and hearing Bruce is always a life-enhancing experience. Become a fan. "
— Professor Tim Noakes, renowned author and sports scientist.
"You may know of Bruce as a result of his stellar Comrades career – 9 wins (still a Comrades record) , 30 runs, and current holder of the world record for 50 miles. He held the record for the down run for 21 years. He also broke the up run record three times.
"Eight of those wins were in consecutive years – unprecedented then, and now. The only reason why it wasn’t 9 in a row is because he chose to race the Standard Bank 100 km World Challenge in the 9th year, during which he set a world record. When he went back to the Comrades the following year, it was to win resoundingly once more.
"So, you may know of Bruce because he is still – perhaps always will be – the Comrades king. But what you may not know is how erudite he is. An outstanding storyteller, he has received more than one standing ovation. He’s also self-deprecating, humble and extremely funny."

"I've never tired of hearing Bruce's stories, despite hearing some of them a number of times!"
